We offer a unique cutting edge curriculum and philosophy for those interested in a career as a professional
canine artist/stylist. We feel grooming is a form of art! ( the medium we work in is dog hair). Anyone can
give a dog a hair cut but it takes an
artistic eye, a creative spirit and full understanding of why you learn to groom the correct way the first
time to produce
the superior level of expertise our students enter the profession with.
With my 27 years experience as a professional groomer of both pet
and show dogs I am able to offer more hands on knowledge and experience than other schools
who rely on less experienced people to instruct. The expertise and professionalism
you receive at HipDog is rivaled by none. We offer more hands on salon time and will not waste your time
rattling on about irrelevant stuff that is "filler" time like some other schools. We won't waste your time or money.
We limit classes to no more than 5 students per instructor as we truly do not subscribe to the cattle call type
schools who see students as money and cram 8 - 12 students in at a time. There is no way one instructor can
provide enough time individually with that many students. Speaking from experience, I was forced to do this elsewhere
and saw first hand how impossible it is to be that many places at once and give the amount of time each student needs
at any given time. Our tuition is affordable and not determined by not the rent for a new building.
We also offer pet and show dog grooming, breed specific classes that others may attend as a continuing
education course one day a week and hand stripping. We also offer a bathing/drying course for those who
may not want to groom.
Debbie Stover is the school founder as well as primary instructor. She has her own set of 6
instructional videos/DVD's that have been carried by all the major wholesalers
nationwide since 1993. How many other schools can offer an instructor with 27 years experience
who has taught people all over the country to groom for 14 years via videos sold nationwide?
She also does grooming shop consulting to those who want to open their own shop or
go mobile after they graduate. She offers weekly breed specific courses, hand stripping knowledge
and will offer online
courses for those who want to learn from home or as continuing education/refresher courses.
No other school in the DFW area has these offerings or credentials. Her new easy to understand
new grooming book will be published in 2008. The is not just another book with show dog illustrations.
Deb's book is for real dogs in real life with real life cuts and clips that groomers deal
with on a daily basis to keep dogs and busy owners happy.
As you can see, we offer more experience, more hands on
time with dogs and more diverse courses which we believe is the difference between learning grooming
as the fine art that it is as opposed to just another vocation.
